Kelsey Grammer Opens Up About Devastating Tragedy in New Memoir
On May 6, Kelsey Grammer’s highly anticipated new memoir shed light on the most heartbreaking personal tragedies that have shaped the actor’s life, particularly the brutal murder of his sister, Karen Grammer.
Describing the killer, Grammer stated, “It is ammunition to keep Freddie Glenn in jail.” Freddie Glenn, along with his late accomplice Michael Corbett, was responsible for the murder of Karen and four others in Colorado Springs in 1975. The two initially planned to rob a Red Lobster restaurant where Karen was working, but ended up abducting her instead.
After taking Karen to an apartment, they subjected her to horrific acts of violence, including repeated rape. Ultimately, they drove her to an alley and brutally killed her. Grammer revealed that Karen was stabbed 42 times, almost decapitating her.
Recalling the tragic event, Grammer shared, “The coroner noted that through a gaping wound in her neck, he could see all the way into Karen’s lung. … There were defensive wounds on her hands.” He described how his sister crawled 400 feet in a desperate attempt to seek help before succumbing to her injuries.
Grammer mentioned that he had to identify Karen’s body a week after reporting her missing. The loss of his sister left a permanent scar on his heart, as he expressed in his memoir, referring to Karen as the “love of my life.”
Describing Karen’s essence, Grammer wrote, “She was like an Oreo cookie dipped in an ice-cold Coca-Cola. She was a poem, a light, fun, innocent, and wise.”
Freddie Glenn was sentenced to life in prison for the murders in 1976. Despite multiple parole denials, he is scheduled for another hearing in 2027.
This tragic event has deeply impacted Kelsey Grammer’s life, and his memoir offers a poignant reflection on the loss of his beloved sister and the enduring pain caused by her senseless murder.
