BELIFT LAB made a surprising announcement on March 10, revealing that ENHYPEN’s Heeseung will be departing from the group. The decision came after extensive internal discussions about the group’s long-term direction and the personal aspirations of its members. Heeseung, a 24-year-old vocalist, made the choice to pursue music through a solo career while continuing to work under the HYBE-affiliated company. His first independent album is already in the works.
The news of Heeseung’s departure sparked discussions online, with many fans pointing to the so-called “seven-member curse” in K-pop groups. This phenomenon refers to groups that start with seven members but later continue with only six. ENHYPEN now joins the list of groups, including MONSTA X, iKON, Weeekly, and INFINITE, that have experienced this lineup adjustment.
Additionally, there have been discussions about other groups within HYBE’s network that have seen lineup changes over the years. From LE SSERAFIM to KATSEYE, several artists have departed from their respective groups, adding to the ongoing conversation about changes within the company.
In response to the news, Heeseung shared a heartfelt message with fans on Weverse, expressing gratitude for their support and understanding. He reassured fans that the decision was made after careful consideration and that he will continue to support ENHYPEN from a distance. He also expressed his hope to return in the future as a stronger version of himself.
Despite the lineup change, ENHYPEN has built a strong global following in just a few years. Their recent EP, “The Sin: Vanish,” was well-received by fans worldwide. With Heeseung’s departure, the group will now move forward with six members as they continue their musical journey.
