Kevin Federline addressed rumors about the motivations behind his forthcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, published on October 14, Federline, who was formerly married to Britney Spears, was questioned about whether the release of his book was motivated by the conclusion of child support payments. The pair were united from 2004 until 2007 and share two sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden (19).
After a brief smile at the inquiry, Federline responded, “You want to go there right away? Alright. Iâd be lying if I said that I didnât want this book to be successful. I wish Iâll sell a million books or more, or whatever.”
The DJ and dancer stated that although he desires success, âmoney is not the foundation of this story, [and] it never has been.â
Federline, who also has a daughter Kori, 23, and son Kaleb, 21, with ex Shar Jackson and daughters Jordan, 14, and Peyton, 11, with wife Victoria Prince, elaborated on his reasons for writing the memoir.
âI wanted to ensure my kids were old enough to comprehend what Iâm doing,â he explained. âItâs always been about my family, and thatâs what people often overlook⊠every decision Iâve made has been for the well-being of my children. They are ready for me to share my perspective. This isn’t just my story; it impacts everyone in my family, including my kids, my wife, and even my former partners.â
Last month, a source informed Us Weekly that Federline is keen to present his life narrative on his own terms nearly two years following Spearsâ memoir, The Woman in Me.

âKevin has dedicated three to four years to writing the book,â an insider revealed to Us previously. âThis was not a last-minute decision after Britney published her memoir. He has never had the chance to share his side comprehensively and understands that interviews and documentaries can be misinterpreted, so he wanted his truth to come directly from him.â
During the Entertainment Tonight interview, it was mentioned that Federline has not had any contact with Spears for âyears,â yet he has received updates from their sons, raising his concerns about their environment.
âIâm genuinely anxious. As a father, Iâm terrified that there may come a day when my sons will have to confront the unthinkable,â he expressed. âI need to raise the alarm because I truly hope their mother can seek help.â
Federline’s comments arrived after a representative for Spears, 43, stated on Tuesday that the memoir is being published âafter child support has ended with Kevin,â alleging that âhe and others are profiting off her.â
The representative emphasized that Spearsâ primary concern is her children. âHer utmost priority is the well-being of her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, amidst this sensationalism,â the statement concluded.
