CorpGov and IPO Edge recently covered the fifth annual Palm Beach CorpGov Forum, featuring keynote speaker Josh Frank, Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Trian Fund Management.
During the event, Mr. Frank discussed Trian’s six-year position at Unilever PLC, highlighting the challenges faced due to corporate governance differences between the company’s British and Dutch locations. He also shared insights on how Unilever unified its governance in the UK. Additionally, Mr. Frank talked about the transformation of Snapple under the leadership of Nelson Peltz, which led to its acquisition by Cadbury Schweppes and subsequent inclusion as a case study at Harvard Business School. Snapple is now part of Keurig Dr Pepper Inc., while Cadbury Schweppes was acquired by Mondelez International.
Furthermore, Mr. Frank discussed current activist campaigns at Paramount Skydance Corp. and Kimberly-Clark Corp., as well as Trian’s past investments in The Walt Disney Co. and The Procter & Gamble Co. He emphasized the diverse portfolios of these consumer companies and highlighted the connection between The Procter & Gamble Co. and Johnson & Johnson.
