King Charles ‘Secretly at War With Heir Prince William’

While undergoing cancer treatment, the King has attended official events on 175 days over the last year. In contrast, William’s engagements have been fewer, interspersed with vacations and limited public appearances.

During this period, Prince Harry, 41, recently concluded a four-day UK visit, including the Invictus Games and a meeting with his father at Clarence House. This visit reportedly resonated well with the public.

A source familiar with palace dynamics commented, “The King increasingly feels the burden of the monarchy largely on his shoulders, especially when comparing his busy schedule to his heir’s. Despite dealing with a serious illness, he continues to fulfill numerous engagements, and this disparity is becoming a point of contention.”

The source continued, “Charles values William’s commitment to being an active father, recognizing it comes from a genuine place. However, he struggles with the impression that this image contrasts unfavorably with his own past as a parent, stirring old feelings about balancing royal duties with personal life.”

From Charles’ perspective, maintaining a balance between modernizing the monarchy and fulfilling its traditional responsibilities is crucial. The ongoing contrast between his demanding schedule and William’s lighter public commitments contributes to underlying tensions.

Royal biographer Tina Brown has stated that Charles seems more annoyed with William than with Harry. She explained, “The king is reportedly less frustrated with the prodigal Harry than with his older son. William’s dedication to parenting often seems like a subtle critique of the king’s own shortcomings as a father.”

Brown elaborated on the contrast between William’s and Charles’ schedules, noting, “William has taken five family vacations in recent months, and his first week back included just two public outings: a father-daughter trip to a Women’s Rugby World Cup match and a visit to the Natural History Museum’s new gardens. Meanwhile, Charles, despite his cancer battle, has been actively engaged on 175 days over the past year.”

Brown also suggested that Harry’s recent visit to the UK has successfully improved his public image, potentially unsettling William. She remarked, “Finally, Prince Harry has got it right, posing a challenge for the Prince of Wales. After years of controversy, Harry seems to have realized the key to public favor for royals is simple: engage with the public and smile.”

She pointed out Harry’s financial contribution to a charitable cause, saying, “Harry’s image reset, which includes a positivity campaign aimed at winning back his father’s and the public’s favor, involved donating £1.1 million to the Children in Need project. This move raises questions about how William is utilizing his £23 million annual income.”

Diana Award chief executive Dr. Tessy Ojo highlighted the significant challenges young people face. She stated, “One in five young people is living with a diagnosable mental health condition, and four in ten feel powerless about their future. The crisis is real.
