King Soopers is set to close its store located at 5050 E. Arapahoe Road in Centennial next month. The closure, scheduled for August 16, comes as part of a larger plan by Kroger, the grocery chain’s parent company based in Cincinnati. Kroger announced last month that it would be closing a total of 60 stores over the next 18 months.
Employees at the Centennial location are being offered the opportunity to transfer to other King Soopers stores. Fortunately, there is another King Soopers store just 1.25 miles north of the one that will be closing, ensuring that customers will still have access to the chain’s offerings in the area.
As of now, no other closures have been announced in Colorado. However, in Denver, a new King Soopers store is currently under construction at 4201 E. Arkansas Ave. Once completed, this store will replace the existing one at 825 S. Colorado Blvd.
