Only two teams have maintained a perfect record in the South Otago T20 competition after two rounds, with the Kaitangata Kings and the Owaka Bandits leading the way with maximum points.

The Kaitangata Kings asserted their dominance with a convincing 92-run victory over the Milton King Crabs at the Royal Landfill in Kaitangata. Batting first, the Kings posted a competitive total of 145 for the loss of seven wickets, thanks to a strong partnership between Daniel Sutherland and Michael Hayes. Milton’s bowlers struggled to contain the Kings’ batters, with Corey Bradley and Jamie McSkimming picking up crucial wickets.

In response, Milton faltered and were bowled out for just 53 runs, with Jason Young leading the charge with three wickets. Meanwhile, the Owaka Bandits continued their unbeaten run by defeating the Waihola Swans by 40 runs at the Crab Grounds in Milton. Owaka’s opening pair laid the foundation for their victory, with Jeremy Gray and Jethro Melville putting on a solid partnership before Francis Parker’s late cameo boosted the total to 142.

Waihola fought hard but fell short of the target, with Gray’s three wickets proving decisive. The Clutha Comets also secured their first win of the season by defeating the Valley Stingers by 36 runs at the Wasp Nest in Tuapeka Mouth. Clutha’s strong batting display set up the win, with Bryan Smith and Connor Davey leading the charge.

Valley’s bowlers struggled to contain Clutha’s batters, conceding 31 extras. In reply, Valley’s effort fell short as Macleod Glaister’s four-wicket haul sealed the victory for the Comets.
