Huntr/x took the stage on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” for a memorable late-night appearance, marking the first live performance of their hit single “Golden” from Netflix’s blockbuster film “KPop Demon Hunters” on Tuesday night.
EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami voice the characters Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) in “KPop Demon Hunters.” The animated feature, which premiered on June 20, became Netflix’s most-watched movie ever by late August, surpassing the previous record held by “Red Notice” with 236 million views. Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, the film tells the story of a K-pop supergroup juggling their fame as pop sensations with their covert role as demon hunters.
During their conversation with Fallon, the host revealed to the trio that the film’s soundtrack had earned platinum status, highlighting its success on the most recent Billboard 200 chart. The “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack secured its second non-consecutive week atop the charts. The album garnered 102,000 equivalent album units, with an impressive 117 million official on-demand streams recorded in the latest tracking week.
In September, “Golden” made history by remaining at the top of the Hot 100 for a fifth week straight, a record for the longest-run No. 1 song by an animated act in the chart’s history.
The “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack also boasts four tracks that have made it to the Hot 100’s top ten. Aside from “Golden,” popular songs “Your Idol,” “Soda Pop,” and “How It’s Done” landed at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 8, respectively.
On October 4, Huntr/x appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” alongside host and musical guest Bad Bunny. They performed a shortened version of “Golden” for the three-time Grammy winner, who portrayed an enthusiastic superfan of the fictional girl group.
