Markwayne Mullin to Replace Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security
On Thursday, March 5, Former President Donald Trump announced the reassignment of Kristi Noem as the United States Secretary of Homeland Security. Trump revealed that Markwayne Mullin, the highly respected United States Senator from Oklahoma, will be taking over the position effective March 31, 2026.
Trump praised Noem for her service and accomplishments during her tenure, especially highlighting her success in border security. Noem will be transitioning to a new role as the Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, a security initiative in the Western Hemisphere that will be officially announced in Doral, Florida on Saturday.
Following the announcement, Corey Lewandowski, a close associate of Trump, refrained from speculating on the reasons behind Noem’s reassignment. He emphasized that he trusts Trump’s leadership and decisions, stating, “I think he has his reasons for everything he does, and we have seen enormous success from his leadership at the White House.”
This reshuffling within the Department of Homeland Security marks a significant change in leadership and strategic focus. As Mullin prepares to step into his new role, the administration is gearing up to unveil its latest security initiative in the Americas under Noem’s guidance.
