British YouTuber KSI, known in the entertainment world as Olajide Olatunji, is embarking on an exciting new venture that mirrors the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Following in their footsteps, KSI has recently acquired a minority stake in the struggling lower league U.K. soccer club, Dagenham & Redbridge. This club currently sits in the sixth tier of British football, one level below Reynolds and McElhenney’s Wrexham AFC when they took ownership in 2021.
In a groundbreaking move, KSI is teaming up with production company After Party Studios to produce a documentary series titled “Race to the Top.” Similar to the popular “Welcome to Wrexham” series, this show will document KSI’s journey as he takes over the club and aims to elevate it to the Premier League. The series is set to debut on KSI’s YouTube channel, which boasts a massive 17 million subscribers, with a combined social media reach of 33.5 million.
“Race to the Top” will follow KSI as he navigates the challenges and opportunities of transforming Dagenham & Redbridge into a competitive force in the National League South. Cameras will capture the day-to-day operations of running a non-league club, including boardroom meetings and fan reactions, offering viewers an inside look at the modern football ecosystem.
Director Ben Doyle, also known as RVBBERDUCK, is no stranger to working with KSI, having previously collaborated on the documentary “KSI: Can’t Lose,” which chronicled KSI’s transition from YouTube sensation to professional boxer. Doyle expressed his excitement for this new project, stating that capturing KSI’s journey in taking over a football club is a significant moment for both of them.
