Firefighters in Los Angeles successfully extinguished a “rubbish fire” near the property owned by late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel less than two days after he made his return to ABC following a week-long suspension due to remarks he made concerning the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Emergency services were dispatched to one of Kimmel’s residences located on Marmont Avenue in the Hollywood Hills just past 7 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Approximately six firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, which were reported to be adjacent to Kimmel’s property, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
No injuries or property damage have been reported in connection with the incident.
In response to inquiries about the fire’s cause, the LAFD spokesperson indicated that they have no information regarding it.
“The incident commander did not call for any extra resources,” the LAFD representative told The Post, implying that the situation was minor and did not warrant a thorough investigation.
The spokesperson for LAFD declined to share further details, while The Post has reached out to Kimmel’s team for comment.
Kimmel made headlines just over a week ago when he dedicated a portion of his Sept. 15 episode on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to the Kirk assassination, implying that the alleged assailant was linked to the pro-Trump “MAGA” faction.
The remarks triggered significant backlash, leading to ABC’s decision to suspend Kimmel indefinitely after FCC Chair Brendan Carr suggested that action may be necessary from Disney, the network’s parent company.
Carr had even threatened the suspension of ABC’s licenses, while affiliate groups Nexstar and Sinclair stated they would preempt Kimmel’s show.
Kimmel’s suspension ignited accusations against the Trump administration of stifling free speech, claims which the White House has rejected.
<pABC, facing pressure from both artists and an audience threatening boycotts against the network and Disney, reinstated Kimmel on Tuesday.
His comeback episode attracted strong viewership, drawing in over 6 million viewers and generating more than 20 million interactions on social media.
Both Nexstar and Sinclair declared on Friday that they would cease their preemption of Kimmel’s program.
