In the vibrant and bustling city of Berlin, fashion designer Laura Gerte showcased her latest collection, titled “Looped & Bound,” at the fall 2025 edition of Berlin Fashion Week. The closing of her show at the iconic Kranzler Eck building on Kudamm was nothing short of unforgettable, almost resembling a club night rather than a traditional fashion event.

Gerte’s collection was a reflection of the cyborg concept, inspired by Donna Haraway’s “A Cyborg Manifesto” and the science fiction anime “Ghost in a Shell.” The theme explored the juxtaposition between man and machine, artificial and natural, in our increasingly digital world. Gerte’s vision of togetherness was evident throughout the show, as models walked along a spiral runway to an electronic soundtrack by DJ Gigola, choreographed by movement director Dafni Krazoudi.

What set Gerte’s collection apart was her commitment to sustainability and upcycling. She sourced materials from a local facility that collects clothing for the needy, transforming discarded pieces into new silhouettes that ranged from bodycon to bulky. Ruched silk dresses, reconstructed jersey pieces, and trompe l’œil jeans made of sustainable denim were just a few highlights of her innovative designs.

The show was a true collaboration, with Gerte enlisting the help of the city’s Multisex party collective both on and off the runway. The message of unity and solidarity resonated with the audience, as the collection served as a contemporary shell for the challenges of our modern, digital world.

In a time where questions about technology and humanity loom large, Laura Gerte’s “Looped & Bound” collection serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of coming together and reimagining our relationship with the digital realm. As the curtains closed on Berlin Fashion Week, Gerte’s show left a lasting impression, proving that fashion can be not only stylish but also socially conscious and environmentally responsible.
