This past weekend, George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley made an appearance on the Hannity show, conversing with guest host Kellyanne Conway about the unfolding drama at the Supreme Court this week.

Turley expressed that the conservative majority on the court seems to be growing weary of the theatrical performances from the liberal minority.

He remarked that the ‘histrionics and the hysteria’ have reached an excessive level.

Transcript via Real Clear Politics:

KELLYANNE CONWAY, “HANNITY” GUEST HOST: Anyone who stands against unchecked government authority surely had a very good day today.

Now joining us for analysis is FOX News contributor Jonathan Turley.

JONATHAN TURLEY, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Thank you, Kellyanne. What a remarkable day for the Supreme Court.

Let’s delve into this. I believe there’s a strong interest in how these developments will affect issues like sanctuary city funding, birthright citizenship, and other pertinent matters.

JONATHAN TURLEY, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Well, first off, I think the president should consider buying a lottery ticket because he’s had quite the week, and if I were him, I’d be feeling lucky today.

This is a significant victory for him. It effectively clears a hurdle that has been obstructing various policies, including immigration, birthright citizenship, and financial cuts. Now, these judicial obstacles will likely be diminished.

If judges attempt to bypass this progress, they might find themselves facing a Supreme Court that’s more inclined to overturn their injunctions swiftly.

As you pointed out, the opinion delivered was quite explosive in its critique of Justice Jackson. In my extensive experience covering the Supreme Court, such exchanges are indeed rare.

It’s crucial to recognize that while Justice Barrett delivered a decisive blow, she was not alone in this effort. Her colleagues backed her stance, clearly indicating that the majority is becoming fatigued with the escalating histrionics and hysteria emanating from the court’s left wing. This was, without doubt, a striking rebuke from the justice.

However, it’s the hyperbolic rhetoric from the dissenting justices that stands out. For instance, Justice Sotomayor claimed that allowing parents to opt out of certain lessons would lead to chaos and potentially dismantle public education. Meanwhile, Justice Jackson warned that this could signify the impending ‘death of democracy.’ Such exaggerations are typically avoided by most justices.

Turley articulated these points with his usual eloquence.
