The James family has just made history in the NBA! LeBron and Bronny James shared the court during the Lakers season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, marking the first time a father-and-son duo has played together in the league. The momentous occasion took place in the second quarter, with both men checking in together when the Lakers were up by 16 points.
Bronny, the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, joined his father on the Crytpo.com Arena hardwood in downtown Los Angeles, in front of a sellout crowd. Fans, including Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr., the first father-and-son duo in Major League Baseball, were thrilled to witness this historic moment.
Savannah James, LeBron’s wife, was also overjoyed to see her husband and 20-year-old son playing professional basketball together. LeBron, now in his 22nd season in the league, has expressed his desire to play alongside his son for years. He once said, “I need to be on the floor with my boy. I got to be on the floor with Bronny.”
While the James’ did play together once in the preseason on October 6th, this official game marks a significant milestone. Bronny, who scored 17 points in an exhibition game against the Warriors on Oct. 18th, hopes this is just the first of many appearances playing alongside his father. The duo’s on-court chemistry and talent have the potential to create many more memorable moments in the future.
Congratulations to the James family on this historic achievement!
