Netflix has announced the production of “The Shooter” (working title), an action-noir series that brings together Lee Jung-eun and Kim Moo-yul. This marks Lee’s debut in an action role.
Lee takes on this role following the success of “My Daughter Is a Zombie,” one of South Korea’s highest-grossing films of 2025. Kim joins the project after the global success of “Teach You a Lesson.” The two actors reunite four years after their collaboration in “Juvenile Justice.”
Lee Kwon, known for directing “A Shop for Killers,” is at the helm of the production, working from a script by Kim Hee-su. The series is produced by Studio Dragon for Netflix.
“The Shooter” centers on Jeong Suk-ja, a woman in her seventies whose peaceful life is disrupted when her grandson is attacked. This incident forces her to handle a firearm for the first time since her youth. Her quest for answers leads her into the secretive world of the influential Chunghwa Group, resulting in a partnership that challenges all she thought she knew.
Kim portrays Seo Yeon-woo, who is the strategist guiding Jeong’s quest for vengeance, equipped with his own keen sense of judgment and personal motives.
Huh Joon-ho (“Notes from the Last Row,” “Mercy for None”) takes on the role of Jang Kwang-cheol, a former leader of the Heukseong Gang who now chairs Chunghwa Group. Choi Sung-eun (“My Name Is Loh Kiwan,” “The Sound of Magic”) plays Shin Ji-hyun, who manages the company’s China office and oversees Operations Unit 3. Bae Na-ra (“The WonderFools,” “Weak Hero Class 2”) is cast as Cheon Tae-seok, the chairman’s aide who runs Operations Unit 2. Seo Hyun-woo (“A Shop for Killers,” “Honour”) appears as Yoo Il-koo, an outcast within Chunghwa Group who leads Operations Unit 4. Rounding out the cast is Moon Jong-won as Um Sang-pil, who runs a bed-and-breakfast and has a mysterious past.
