Barcelona-based Limonero Films has acquired the global distribution rights for “Bock Saga,” an innovative four-part true crime series produced by the Finnish company Parad Media.
Set to debut on Finland’s YLE broadcaster on July 27, this cult-themed series has already been pre-sold to NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, and Denmark’s DR.
The series delves into the mysterious narrative of Ior Bock’s followers, a self-proclaimed mystic who asserted that his lineage was the keeper of Finland’s ancient pagan traditions, encapsulated in his so-called Bock saga.
Spanning locations from trance gatherings in Goa to a rumored treasure-laden underground temple in Finland, the series embarks on a surreal exploration of faith, obsession, and conspiracy, according to Limonero Films.
Through a mix of real-time investigations, archival materials, and animation, “Bock Saga” investigates the intersection of myth and reality in an ultimate quest for truth.
“I am thrilled to introduce the peculiar tale of Ior Bock and his followers to a global audience,” stated Axel Högström, CEO and producer at Parad Media.
“For five years, we have been developing this documentary, following the waves of Bock’s alternative creation myth across the globe, from Finland’s dense forests to Berlin’s sex parties, Goa’s slums, and all the way to California.
This captivating story transcends both space and time. For me, ‘Bock Saga’ serves as the ultimate evidence that truth is indeed stranger than fiction, and I am delighted that Limonero is helping us share this extraordinary gem with international viewers.”
Limonero Films founder and CEO Pamela Martínez Martínez commented: “With elements of true crime, cults, eccentric personalities, and treasure, it has all the elements to captivate audiences.”
The boutique distributor will officially introduce the series at the upcoming Sunny Side of the Doc event in La Rochelle, France.
