An overly excited Lionel Messi fan learned the hard way what not to do when trying to approach the international soccer superstar, as he was tackled by security after rushing towards him at a youth event.
The incident took place at the Inter Miami CF Academy’s Dreams Cup at Florida Blue Training Center, where Messi and teammate Luis Suarez were present, observing the event from a bench under a tent.
During the event, a young fan wearing a No. 10 jersey sprinted onto the field and managed to evade a security guard who tried to stop him.
Upon reaching Messi, the fan attempted to give him a Sharpie, presumably to get an autograph from the Argentinian striker.
Another security guard intervened, pushing the fan back and escorting him away from Messi.
Despite attempting to leave on his own, the fan was escorted off the field by event staff.
Interestingly, another Messi fan approached the soccer star calmly while the first fan received attention from security. Even though the second fan was more composed, he also faced some resistance from the guards protecting Messi.
It’s not uncommon for Messi to attract overenthusiastic fans, and he has become accustomed to such incidents wherever he goes, as it comes with the territory of being a global soccer icon.
