Halle Bailey Secures Restraining Order Against Rapper Ex, Citing Concerns for Child’s Safety
In a striking turn of events, Halle Bailey, renowned for her role in the live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” has obtained a restraining order against her former partner, rapper and YouTuber Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., better known as “DDG.” This legal action stems from alarming allegations of violence and threats to the safety of their 17-month-old son.
A Los Angeles judge granted the restraining order on Monday, following Bailey’s testimony that Granberry had exhibited violent behavior toward her on multiple occasions since their separation last year.
Bailey’s court documents paint a troubling picture: “Throughout our relationship,” she stated, “Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.”
In a particularly distressing account, Bailey recounted an incident from January where, while attempting to secure their child in a car seat, Granberry reportedly hurled derogatory insults at her. The situation escalated into a physical altercation, with Bailey stating, “The next thing I knew, things got physical between us… At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.” The actress also submitted photographic evidence of her injuries.
The situation took a further unsettling turn in March when Granberry allegedly broke into Bailey’s home, sending her a threatening message along with a photo of her bed. “A few days later,” she described, “he berated me for not wanting to send our sick baby on a visit with him, and he smashed the Ring camera on my porch when he realized it was recording the confrontation.” In response to this incident, Bailey filed a police report.
Moreover, Bailey disclosed that Granberry has been utilizing his extensive social media following to harass her. “Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts bad mouthing me to his several millions of fans,” she explained. “He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media.”
Granberry has now been prohibited from contacting Bailey or their son until a hearing scheduled for June 6, and he is also barred from possessing any weapons.
