A 49-year-old man from Littleton, who worked as a teacher at a middle school in the Douglas County School District, has been arrested and charged with child sexual assault, according to the sheriff’s office.
David Feil was taken into custody on Monday on two counts of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust, a Class 3 felony, as per court documents.
Feil joined the Douglas County School District in 2014 as an educational assistant at Pine Lane Elementary School, according to school district spokesperson Paula Hans. After a year in that role, he became a short-term substitute teacher at various locations within the district.
In 2015, Feil was hired as an educational assistant at Roxborough Intermediate School near Littleton, where he later became a classroom teacher in 2017. He has been working there since then.
Following his arrest, Feil has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, as stated by Roxborough Intermediate’s principal, Meghan Ofer, in an email to parents.
A long-term substitute teacher will be taking over Feil’s classroom duties for the remainder of the year, Ofer informed parents in the email.
The alleged assault took place on August 1, 2021, after Feil had assumed his full-time teaching position at Roxborough Intermediate.
Feil is currently being held at the Douglas County Detention Facility on a $50,000 cash or surety bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 6.
