Parking garages are typically associated with cars, but British artist Liz West has completely transformed a single floor of a concrete structure into an immersive chromatic environment. In her installation titled “Our Colour,” West covered hundreds of existing lights in the Cabot Circus Car Park with pigmented theatre gels, creating a vibrant rainbow glow that envelops the space.
This colorful transformation invites visitors to experience color in a more direct and physical way, encouraging them to skate, dance, and bask in the mesmerizing spectrum of hues. West’s goal with this installation is to challenge individuals to question their perception of color and explore how it can affect their emotions and feelings.
The temporary installation is part of the Bristol Light Festival, running through February 28. Visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this unique chromatic environment and witness firsthand the power of color to transform a space.
