Locket, a private social networking app for friends, has recently introduced a new feature called Rollcall, which has been a hit among Gen Alpha users. The app initially gained popularity by leveraging Apple’s widget system to create a unique social network experience. Instead of traditional push notifications, Locket’s widget would update to display friends’ recently shared photos, encouraging users to engage with the app and share their own photos in return.

CEO Matt Moss explains that Rollcall builds on this concept by using Apple’s Live Activities feature to prompt users to share their favorite photos from the past week. Live Activities allow apps to provide frequent updates on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, capturing users’ attention in a glanceable format. Moss, a former Apple WWDC student scholarship winner, recognizes the importance of utilizing new formats to attract users.

The innovative use of Live Activities has proven successful for Locket, with over 91 million lifetime installs across iOS and Android. In Rollcall’s first week, the feature drove over a million shares, demonstrating its appeal to users. Moss also revealed that more than 25% of the app’s active users are now posting a Rollcall every week, with approximately 80% of initial active users belonging to Gen Alpha.

One key difference Moss highlighted between Gen Alpha and Gen Z users is the role of Locket in their social interactions. For many Gen Alpha users, Locket serves as their primary method of connecting with friends, emphasizing direct photo sharing and communication with close contacts.

Looking ahead, Locket plans to expand Rollcall to support video sharing and explore other experiences beyond photos. While the company does not currently support AI-generated content, Moss is considering how AI could enhance features like creating collages or compiling photo memories. Additionally, Locket aims to foster real-world connections among users by prompting them to reach out to friends and strengthen their relationships.

In terms of monetization, Locket offers a subscription model and has acquired over 100,000 subscribers, leading to profitability since last year. By prioritizing genuine connections and meaningful interactions, Locket aims to differentiate itself as a platform focused on fostering authentic relationships among users. The world of technology is constantly evolving, with new advancements and innovations being made every day. One of the most exciting developments in recent years is the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI). AI has the potential to revolutionize a wide range of industries, from healthcare to finance to transportation.

One of the key areas where AI is poised to make a major impact is in the field of robotics. Robots powered by AI technology have the ability to perform tasks that were once thought to be impossible for machines. From autonomous vehicles to robotic surgery to automated manufacturing, AI-powered robots are changing the way we live and work.

One of the most promising applications of AI in robotics is in the healthcare industry. AI-powered robots are being used to assist doctors and nurses in a variety of tasks, from diagnosing diseases to performing surgeries. These robots are able to analyze vast amounts of medical data in a fraction of the time it would take a human, allowing for quicker and more accurate diagnoses.

In addition to healthcare, AI-powered robots are also being used in other industries, such as manufacturing and logistics. These robots are able to perform tasks that are too dangerous or repetitive for humans, increasing efficiency and reducing the risk of injury.

However, with the rise of AI-powered robots comes the concern of job displacement. As robots become more advanced and capable of performing a wider range of tasks, there is the potential for many jobs to be automated. This has led to debates around the ethics of AI and the need for regulations to ensure that technology is used responsibly.

Despite these challenges, the potential benefits of AI-powered robots are undeniable. From improving healthcare outcomes to increasing efficiency in manufacturing, AI has the power to transform industries and improve the way we live and work. As technology continues to advance, it will be important for society to adapt and embrace the opportunities that AI-powered robots bring.
