A tragic incident occurred on Long Island Wednesday night when a heartless hit-and-run driver fatally struck an elderly man in Hewlett. Jeffrey Frank, 74, was crossing Broadway near Everit Avenue around 10 p.m. when he was hit by a dark-colored SUV, according to Nassau County Police.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver then stopped, got out of the vehicle, and dragged the injured victim to the side of the road to prevent further harm. However, instead of staying to help, the driver fled the scene, leaving Frank in critical condition.
