Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry issued a stern warning to those involved in aiding the escape of seven prisoners from a New Orleans jail. The escape, which included two murder suspects, occurred three days ago and has sparked a massive manhunt across the state.

During a press conference, Governor Landry emphasized that anyone found to have aided the fugitives will face serious consequences. He also criticized the progressive policies in New Orleans that he believes contributed to the escape. Governor Landry announced executive orders to audit the Orleans Correctional Facility and remove all Department of Corrections inmates from the jail.

The escape, captured on surveillance footage, involved the inmates crawling through a hidden hole behind a toilet, scaling a barbed wire fence, and running into a neighborhood. Messages left behind indicated a sense of ease and innocence among the escapees. Authorities suspect that the inmates had inside help, as a female civilian employee monitoring the pod was absent during the escape.

Of the ten inmates that escaped, four have been captured, leaving seven still at large. These fugitives, including individuals facing serious charges like second-degree murder and battery of a correctional facility employee, are believed to still be in Louisiana. Authorities have warned that the escapees may have fled to other states, and bounties of $20,000 have been placed on their heads.

Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to locate the remaining fugitives, with leads being developed continuously. The Louisiana State Police, along with local, state, and federal partners, are actively involved in the search. The FBI and ATF have also been alerted to the situation, although they have not provided any comments at this time.

The escape and subsequent manhunt have highlighted the need for stricter security measures and a reevaluation of the criminal justice system in New Orleans. Governor Landry’s firm stance on holding all involved parties accountable sends a clear message that aiding fugitives will not be tolerated. The safety and security of the community remain a top priority as efforts to locate and apprehend the escaped prisoners continue.
