Love Is Blind season 9 participant Kacie McIntosh has issued a statement addressing her critics regarding her role in the reality TV show.
“I acknowledge that I’ve made some missteps during my time on LiB,” Kacie, 32, expressed in a message posted on her Instagram Stories on Saturday, October 4. “Nonetheless, the full picture is more complex than what the show presents, and I look forward to sharing my perspective soon.”
She added, “In the meantime, I ask that you refrain from including my family and friends in any negativity, as they didn’t sign up for this experience. I did, and I urge you to stop sending death threats. [My cat] Chardonnay deserves a mom.”
Kacie became engaged to Patrick Suzuki without seeing him beforehand, as showcased on Love Is Blind season 9, which premiered on Netflix earlier this week. Although she expressed her feelings for Patrick, who is 31, the hair and makeup artist ended their engagement just hours after their first in-person meeting.
“Patrick deserves someone far better than me. He’s not unattractive, but he needs someone who is completely enamored with him,” Kacie said during a confessional in episode six, attributing her change of heart to a lack of physical attraction. “I just don’t believe my feelings for him are going to develop further, and that’s disappointing.”
She continued, “I just know it won’t happen, and I think it would be incredibly unfair to him if we went to Mexico only for me to tell him there that I can’t reach that point with him, period.”
Kacie, however, didn’t explicitly end her engagement to Patrick. She merely communicated that she was unwilling to join the cast on their Mexico trip. In another interview, Patrick mentioned that he planned to continue dating Kacie upon their return to Denver.
“I still feel positive about her,” Patrick shared in his confessional. “We’ll likely take things slow from here, but she tells me she still loves me. I think she’s genuine, and we have a connection that’s not just based on physical appeal.”

In the wake of the airing of the episodes, Patrick has also addressed the backlash faced by Kacie from fans.
“Hey everyone, I’ve been seeing the comments and messages,” Patrick shared via his Instagram Stories on Saturday. “I am overwhelmed by all the love and support—thank you. I’ll try my best to respond to everyone. Remember, we’re all human.”
Patrick further encouraged his followers to “be gentle with Kacie, my other connection Anna Yuan, and the rest of the season 9 cast.”
“I do not support any form of hate,” Patrick concluded, signing off as “Baby Seal.” (He humorously compared his hairless physique to that of the marine animal during an exchange with Kacie in the pods.)
Patrick found himself embroiled in a love triangle between Kacie and Anna, 28, until Anna unexpectedly quit the experiment.
Love Is Blind is currently available for streaming on Netflix, with new episodes released weekly.
