The recipe for a Luar pop-up is a combination of intention, spectacle, and attitude. Raul Lopez, the creative mind behind Luar, wanted to create a unique New York moment for fashion enthusiasts. Just a few days before the brand’s pop-up shop opened at the WSA building, Lopez expressed his desire to provide an opportunity for people to try on different pieces and put together their perfect summer looks.
Upon entering the ruby-red carpeted space of the building, guests are greeted with a stunning display of Luar’s offerings. From a vibrant purple bedroom showcasing bags in various colors and sizes to a meticulously styled Luar look elegantly laid out on violet sheets, the space feels more like an art installation than a traditional retail setting.
The pop-up features Luar’s signature Ana bags, runway looks from past seasons, ready-to-wear pieces, and a limited-edition tank top with a cheeky phrase. Additionally, the brand’s first collection of shoes, including a luxe flat Oxford and an Oxford-inspired mule with a silver “L” insignia, are available for purchase.
During the opening event, artist and author Kim Hastreiter showed her support for the designer by trying on different looks and ultimately leaving with a striking black overcoat. DJ sets by Kristy Baez, Rae Sada, and Elvin Tavarez provided a lively atmosphere, with guests enjoying Cara Cara Orange and Sweet Pineapple cocktails from Two Robbers.
Outside the pop-up, music filled the street as guests mingled and shared their favorite finds of the day. One customer, Waldo Baez, expressed his admiration for Luar’s ability to create a captivating ambiance and bring the brand to life in a real-world setting.
As the evening progressed, attendees found themselves drawn not only to the products and pricing but also to the immersive experience of stepping into Luar’s glamorous universe. Could this successful pop-up signal a shift towards a more permanent retail presence for the brand? Only time will tell.
