It seems only natural that Margherita Maccapani Missoni’s creative perspective is influenced by her family heritage. Last season, she showcased her collection in an apartment located on the Rive Gauche in Paris, a property passed down from her grandmother Rosita. This season, however, the photoshoot took place on a burchio from 1920—an age-old flat-bottomed boat once utilized for river navigation—which her grandfather Ottavio cherished in the 1980s. Docked in Venice, this vessel has always provided a space of connection and unity for the Missoni clan.
“Fashion should envelop you, remain close, narrate your journey—and withstand the test of time. Like your most profound and intimate memories,” noted Mariuccia Casadio, one of Italy’s eminent voices in fashion, in a heartfelt message accompanying Maccapani’s spring 2026 collection. “My garments are created to interact with various facets of life, integrating seamlessly into each person’s narrative,” Maccapani Missoni expressed. Her goal is to streamline, opposing the quick-change culture that promotes a transient relationship with clothing. This approach sheds light on the continuity in her collection: the long-sleeved Moto T-shirt, for example, represents her commitment to practicality rather than cyclical reinvention.
“While designing, I consider my own essentials, those of a woman stepping out in the morning with a full day ahead, perhaps changing at the office before heading to an event, stashing a cocktail dress in her bag,” she shared. Essential pieces included the Easy Pants—“the most effortless trousers imaginable”—and the Ita dress crafted from three-tone jacquard jersey, featuring abstract designs in shades of rose, taupe, and powder blue, designed to be lighter and more flowing than in prior collections. The collection also explored deliberately reimagined interpretations of femininity: comfortable and wearable corsetry; bodysuits, turtlenecks, and skirts that hug the figure like a second skin. No buttons or zippers were used, and in the ethos of circularity, the fabrics comprised no more than three yarns. Within Maccapani’s vision, everything aligns with the essence of smart, effortless practicality, yet remains perpetually contemporary.
