The Magnificent Mile was once again targeted by burglars in the early hours of the morning, as high-end yoga store Alo fell victim to a break-in for the second time in a month. The incident occurred at 717 North Michigan around 3:14 a.m., with an estimated $25,000 to $30,000 worth of merchandise stolen.
According to Chicago police, three burglars smashed a glass window to gain entry into the store, known for its luxury activewear offerings such as $128 sweatpants, $78 t-shirts, and $32 crew socks. The perpetrators, who were captured on video surveillance, were described as men wearing face coverings, gloves, and dark clothing.
After looting the store, the burglars quickly fled the scene in a red or maroon Hyundai sedan, driven by an individual wearing a white hoodie. Law enforcement arrived shortly after the incident was reported, but the culprits had already made their getaway.
Interestingly, this was not the first time Alo had been targeted by thieves. A similar break-in occurred on June 5, where four men wearing ski masks and hoodies broke into the store through a side door and made off with merchandise from the sales floor. Other yoga stores in the vicinity were also hit on the same night, indicating a pattern of organized criminal activity.
