Boxer Ryan Garcia, known for his support of Donald Trump in the past, has now publicly criticized the president over his administration’s aggressive immigration raids in Los Angeles. Garcia, who once expressed his admiration for Trump on social media, has now spoken out against the controversial immigration crackdown that has led to protests in L.A. and the deployment of the National Guard by Trump.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Garcia stated, “I may have voted for Trump, but I can’t stay silent about what’s happening with ICE in L.A.” He emphasized that the individuals affected by these raids are not just “illegals” or statistics, but hardworking immigrants who contribute to society by paying taxes, raising families, and building communities.
As a Mexican-American with roots in Victorville and a strong connection to both American and Mexican culture, Garcia expressed his concern for the pain caused by separating families and disrupting communities. He believes that it is possible to have secure borders without sacrificing compassion and humanity.
