Maks Chmerkovskiy recently opened up about the emotional impact of the 20th-anniversary special of “Dancing With the Stars,” particularly the In Memoriam dance segment. During an episode of the podcast “Penthuse with Peta,” Chmerkovskiy revealed that he was overcome with emotions when the tribute to the late Kirstie Alley occurred.

Reflecting on the episode that aired on November 11, Chmerkovskiy expressed that seeing Alley in the tribute dance brought back memories of their time together on the show. He mentioned how dancers Ezra Sosa and Rylee Arnold did a fantastic job with the performance, but it was the heartfelt tribute to Alley and other late contestants that truly touched him.

Alley, who competed on “Dancing With the Stars” in season 12 in 2011 and the All-Stars season (season 15) the following year, was partnered with Chmerkovskiy for both seasons. She was among the celebrities honored in the In Memoriam dance, along with other former contestants like Jerry Springer, Cloris Leachman, Aaron Carter, Shannen Doherty, and Florence Henderson.

Host Alfonso Ribeiro paid tribute to the departed members of the “DWTS” family, acknowledging their lasting impact on the show and their presence in the hearts of fans. Alley passed away in December 2022 after a battle with cancer at the age of 71. Her children, William True Stevenson and Lillie Stevenson, confirmed her death via a heartfelt post on her Instagram account.

In a touching tribute on his own Instagram, Chmerkovskiy expressed his love and admiration for Alley, remembering her as a unique and bright presence in his life. He shared memories of their time together and the special bond they shared, expressing regret for not staying in touch more frequently.

The emotional impact of honoring Alley and other departed contestants on “Dancing With the Stars” serves as a reminder of the lasting legacy these individuals have left behind. Their contributions to the show and the memories they created will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans and fellow dancers like Maks Chmerkovskiy. The world is full of mysteries, some of which have been solved and others that continue to baffle scientists and researchers. One such mystery that has captured the imagination of people for centuries is the disappearance of the lost city of Atlantis.

Described by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato in his dialogues “Timaeus” and “Critias,” Atlantis was said to be a powerful and advanced civilization that existed around 9,000 years before his time. According to Plato, the city was located beyond the Pillars of Hercules (modern-day Strait of Gibraltar) and was destroyed in a single day and night of cataclysmic events.

Since Plato’s writings, countless theories have emerged about the possible location of Atlantis. Some believe it was a real place that was lost to the sea due to a natural disaster, while others think it was merely a mythological tale created by Plato to convey a moral lesson.

One of the most popular theories is that Atlantis was located in the Mediterranean Sea, near the island of Santorini. This theory is based on the similarities between Plato’s descriptions of Atlantis and the geological features of Santorini, which was devastated by a massive volcanic eruption around 1600 BC.

Another theory suggests that Atlantis was located in the Atlantic Ocean, near the Azores islands. This theory is supported by the discovery of underwater structures that some believe could be remnants of the lost city.

Despite the numerous theories and expeditions conducted in search of Atlantis, no concrete evidence has ever been found to prove its existence. Some skeptics argue that the story of Atlantis is nothing more than a work of fiction created by Plato, while others believe that the truth may still be waiting to be uncovered.

The mystery of Atlantis continues to captivate the minds of historians, archaeologists, and enthusiasts around the world. Whether it was a real place or simply a figment of Plato’s imagination, the legend of Atlantis remains one of the most enduring and intriguing mysteries of all time. Perhaps one day, new evidence will come to light that will finally solve the mystery of the lost city of Atlantis. Until then, the search continues.
