A tragic incident unfolded at a Queens psychiatric facility on Monday morning, as a 63-year-old man was found fatally stabbed in a pool of his own blood. The man was discovered face-down in a room at an outpatient recovery practice affiliated with the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Bellrose Manor. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to the back of his neck and lower back.
Authorities revealed that both the victim and a 23-year-old man, described as a person of interest, were patients at the facility. The younger man was taken into custody for questioning but claimed to have no recollection of the violent act. Despite being patients at the same facility, their identities have not been disclosed pending notification of their families.
Although no charges have been filed at this time, the police found a knife at the scene of the crime, where the younger man was also residing. The practice and the state’s Department of Mental Hygiene have not responded to inquiries from The Post regarding the tragic incident.
The shocking nature of the crime has left the community reeling, with many questioning how such a violent act could take place within the confines of a psychiatric facility. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding this senseless tragedy.
