Man Arrested for Vehicular Assault in Littleton
A man was taken into custody on Tuesday on suspicion of vehicular assault after allegedly running over another individual in Littleton and fleeing the scene, as reported by the police.
Rene Cook, aged 47, was reportedly involved in a minor car accident on Monday which quickly escalated into a confrontation with the other driver, according to a press release issued by the Littleton Police Department.
After the unidentified driver exited their vehicle, Cook allegedly drove over them before leaving the scene, law enforcement officials stated in the release.
The authorities responded to reports of the incident at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of Broadway and West Powers Avenue, according to the release.
Cook was apprehended later that day on charges of vehicular assault and hit-and-run, although formal charges had not been filed as of Wednesday morning.
He is set to appear in Arapahoe County court on Friday morning for a hearing on the filing of charges, as per court records. Currently, the 47-year-old is being held on a $50,000 bail at Arapahoe County jail.
The victim of the hit-and-run was transported to the hospital in critical condition by South Metro Fire Rescue paramedics, police confirmed. There has been no update on the victim’s condition as of Wednesday.
