20-Year-Old Man Brags About Fatal Shooting in Little Village Gang Ambush

Chicago police and prosecutors have revealed shocking details about a gang-related shooting in Little Village, where a 20-year-old man allegedly boasted about opening fire on a group of rivals during a predawn drive. The incident resulted in the death of one man and the injury of another, in what investigators describe as a premeditated gang ambush.

According to prosecutors, Lorenzo Salazar and another individual planned to target rival gang members on November 12, 2023. They reportedly obtained guns, stole a car, broke into another vehicle, and drove to the 2800 block of South Trumbull Avenue. Just before 4 a.m., they fired shots from inside their vehicle at men they believed were affiliated with a rival gang.

Tragically, 23-year-old Enrique Victor was fatally struck, while a 24-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg.

Lorenzo Salazar (Chicago Police Department)

Prosecutors allege that Salazar later bragged about being the shooter, and video evidence supports this claim. Furthermore, he reportedly attempted to circulate the gun used in the murder back onto the streets.

Following these revelations, Judge James Costello ordered Salazar to be detained on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and aggravated battery by discharging a firearm.
