A 35-year-old Naperville man, Saifullah Diab, has been charged with shooting a 53-year-old Roscoe Village resident inside the victim’s home two months ago. Chicago police apprehended Diab at his suburban residence on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 8:18 a.m. on March 8, when an intruder entered the victim’s home in the 1900 block of West Roscoe and shot him in the shoulder. According to police reports, a 911 caller identified the shooter as her ex-boyfriend who had come to the house and shot her roommate before fleeing on foot.

Officers at the scene described the shooter as a Middle Eastern male, 35 years old, standing at 5’8″ tall and weighing 145 pounds. Notably, this shooting marked the first incident in Roscoe Village since December 2021.

Saifullah Diab is facing charges of aggravated battery by discharging a firearm and home invasion causing great bodily harm. More details regarding the allegations against him will be disclosed during his detention hearing at 26th and California on Saturday afternoon.
