A tragic incident occurred in Clendon Park in South Auckland today, resulting in the death of a man who was shot. The incident has sparked a homicide investigation.

According to the police, the man sought help at Clendon Park Medical Centre for his injuries, but it was determined that he had sustained the gunshot wound elsewhere.

Despite efforts to save him, the man passed away at Middlemore Hospital.

At this time, no arrests have been made, but the authorities are actively investigating a Wattle Downs address in connection with the case.

Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Hassall stated, “We are currently questioning several individuals as part of our investigation to piece together the events of this afternoon.”

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activities in the Gambare Place area to come forward with information.

Witnesses at the scene reported the presence of multiple police units, including members of the Armed Offenders Squad, as well as a St John ambulance outside the medical centre. Access to the shopping complex via Palmers Rd has been restricted.

Det Snr Sgt Hassall assured the community of an increased police presence in the vicinity in the days to come.
