Man Found Stabbed to Death Outside Loop Restaurant

Chicago police have initiated a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man who was fatally stabbed outside a restaurant in the Loop early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to a call at the 200 block of South Wabash Street around 7:21 a.m. where they found an unresponsive man with a stab wound to his left upper back. Despite efforts by paramedics to revive him, he was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital approximately 30 minutes later.

The victim, who did not have any identification on him, was found in close proximity to personal belongings that suggested he may have been homeless. Detectives are currently working to confirm his identity.

This incident marks the fourth murder in the Loop this year and the second over the weekend. On Friday evening, 14-year-old Armani Floyd was fatally shot in the 100 block of South Dearborn Street following a violent altercation after the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. No suspects have been apprehended in connection with Floyd’s death.

Previous homicides in the Loop, including the drowning of Nabil “Captain Bill” Adzal and the fatal altercation involving Robert Harper, remain unsolved.

Nabil Adzal, 63, from Plainfield, was retrieved from Lake Michigan in August after witnesses reported seeing him fall off the harbor’s C Dock. His death was ruled a homicide by drowning, with surveillance footage showing him interacting with a group of men prior to the incident.

On July 5, Robert Harper, 56, succumbed to a head injury sustained during a fight on the Clark-Lake elevated platform. While a suspect was detained for questioning, no charges have been filed.
