A brutal attack took place at the Division Blue Line station entrance in Wicker Park on Sunday morning, leaving a 34-year-old man seriously injured, as reported by the Chicago police. The incident occurred at approximately 5:25 a.m. on the sidewalk near the station entrance at 1200 North Milwaukee. According to authorities, an unidentified male suspect assaulted the victim as they were entering the subway entrance. Surveillance footage captured part of the attack, showing the suspect fleeing into a nearby alley. Described as wearing a long white coat and carrying a backpack, the suspect remains at large.
Following the attack, a witness discovered the victim sitting on the curb, bleeding from the head, and promptly called 911 approximately 15 minutes later. Chicago police evidence technicians collected the victim’s gym shoes, which were found next to blood on the sidewalk, as part of their investigation into the incident. The victim was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he is currently in serious condition. As the authorities continue their investigation, no arrests have been made thus far.
