Early Sunday morning in Rogers Park, a man was shot and critically injured, according to Chicago police. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to his back, was uncooperative with CPD’s investigation before undergoing surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
Police received multiple reports of shots fired near Morse and Greenview around 5:15 a.m. However, upon arrival at the scene, no individuals were found. The injured man later arrived at the hospital seeking medical attention.
Despite officers’ attempts to gather information about the incident, the victim declined to provide any details. Earlier in the morning, authorities had responded to reports of a group loitering on the street and a nearby party, though it remains unclear if these events are connected to the shooting.
Year-to-date statistics show that 20 individuals have been shot in Rogers Park, a decrease from the 29 victims recorded at this point last year. In comparison, there were 24 victims in 2022 and 17 victims in 2021 during the same period.
CWBChicago, established in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown, was formed in response to the lack of accurate information provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. While initially focused on these neighborhoods, our coverage has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other areas on the North Side. Our core mission remains steadfast: to deliver original reporting on public safety issues with enhanced context and detail compared to mainstream media outlets.
