A 20-year-old man was shot during an apparent robbery attempt in the Loop on Saturday evening. The victim was in the 500 block of South Holden Court when two men approached him around 8:55 p.m. One of the men produced a firearm and shot the victim in the abdomen during the confrontation, according to CPD. Responding officers applied a chest seal to help stabilize the man before paramedics arrived. He was then transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition. Two shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the two suspects fled east on Harrison Street before turning north into an alley behind the 500 block of South State Street. The suspects were described as Black males, one wearing a red hoodie and the other possibly wearing a white hoodie. As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been announced.
CWBChicago, a local news outlet, was created in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the accuracy of information provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. The coverage area has since expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. The mission of CWBChicago remains to provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
