A 34-year-old man was injured in what authorities believe was a potential robbery attempt in the South Loop in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident took place at approximately 4:40 a.m. on November 23 in a parking lot located on the 1900 block of South Wabash Avenue. The victim was sitting inside a parked vehicle when four individuals approached in a black Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows and opened fire towards him, hitting him in the right arm and shoulder.

The driver of the vehicle quickly fled the scene and managed to flag down a Chicago police officer near Jackson Boulevard and Columbus Drive a few minutes later. The officer acted swiftly, applying a tourniquet and QuickClot to control the victim’s bleeding before he was transported to Northwestern Hospital. Fortunately, the victim was listed in stable condition upon arrival at the hospital.

The Chicago Police Department has not provided any descriptions of the suspects involved in the shooting.

This original reporting, funded by our dedicated readers, allows us to bring you stories that you won’t find anywhere else. Your support is crucial in enabling us to continue our work.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the lack of accurate information being shared at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage has since expanded to include areas such as Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side neighborhoods. Despite this growth, our core mission remains unchanged: to deliver comprehensive public safety reporting with in-depth analysis and context that surpasses mainstream media outlets.
