Man in Fair Condition After Being Shot in Edgewater

CHICAGO — A 47-year-old man is in fair condition after being shot outside an Edgewater apartment building this afternoon, Chicago police said.

Calls of shots fired poured into the city’s 911 center around 2:27 p.m. Officers found the victim minutes later in the 1000 block of West Bryn Mawr. CPD said he had been on the sidewalk when the gunman approached and fired shots, striking him in the left thigh.

He is the 19th person shot in Edgewater this year, which compares to five in all of last year and ten in all of 2022.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
