27-Year-Old Man Faces Charges for Allegedly Abusing Underage Girls Through Social App
A 27-year-old man from Homewood is in hot water after allegedly using a teen-focused social app to meet and sexually abuse underage girls in the Chicagoland area. The man, identified as Alejandro Porras, has been charged following reports from concerned parents and police investigations.
According to Chicago police, the case unfolded when officers responded to a report from a woman in Logan Square whose 15-year-old daughter had gone missing. The teen was found with Porras outside their residence, where he initially lied about his age before admitting he was 25 years old. The girl revealed that she had met Porras on Wizz, a social media app popular among teenagers, and had been communicating with him for several weeks before meeting in person.
During their encounter, the girl and Porras engaged in sexual activity in the bed of his pickup truck parked near her home. The girl believed Porras was 16 years old, but later confessed to police that she had been deceived. She was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital for treatment, while Porras was initially released pending DNA testing. However, subsequent lab results linked him to the case, leading to formal charges being filed against him.
At a recent detention hearing, Judge Antara Rivera ordered Porras to remain in custody, stating that he posed a “clear and present danger” to the community. This is not the first time Porras has faced such allegations, as he has been implicated in multiple cases involving the sexual abuse of underage girls across different counties in Illinois.
One such case involved a 13-year-old girl in Calumet City, whom Porras allegedly met through Wizz under false pretenses. Despite claiming to be 19 years old, the girl was actually 13 at the time of their encounters. In another incident in Round Lake Park, Porras was arrested following an investigation that linked him to a 14-year-old girl. Police discovered incriminating messages on his phone, connecting him to multiple victims in different towns.
Porras also has a pending warrant in Will County for criminal sexual abuse, adding to the list of charges against him. His pattern of deceptive behavior and exploitation of underage girls has raised concerns among law enforcement and the community at large.
As the legal proceedings unfold, it is crucial to address the dangers posed by individuals like Porras who use social media platforms to target vulnerable teenagers. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children’s online activities and educate them about the risks of interacting with strangers online.
