Manchester United have received a much-needed boost with the imminent return of two key players as they gear up to face Athletic Club in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals. According to reports, Ruben Amorim’s side is set to welcome back Matthijs De Ligt and Amad Diallo, who have both been sidelined with injuries but have now resumed full training and are in contention to feature in the upcoming clash.

Amad, who has been a standout performer for Manchester United, was sidelined for the remainder of the season back in February due to an ankle injury. However, the 22-year-old has made a quicker-than-expected recovery and is now back in the mix for selection. De Ligt, the Netherlands international, also suffered an injury in early April after a run of nine consecutive appearances for the Red Devils. His return will bolster the team’s defensive options, especially considering their recent struggles to keep clean sheets.

The return of Amad will provide a much-needed attacking spark for Manchester United, as the Ivorian forward had contributed significantly with nine goals and seven assists in 36 appearances before his injury. Meanwhile, De Ligt’s presence at the back will add stability to the defense, having made 40 appearances in his debut season with the club.

In a heartwarming twist, Manchester United legend David de Gea is set to make a return to Old Trafford for the first time since leaving the club in 2023. The Spanish goalkeeper, now with Fiorentina, will be part of the team participating in the Snapdragon Cup at Old Trafford in the summer. De Gea has enjoyed a successful spell in Serie A, keeping 11 clean sheets in 31 appearances and helping Fiorentina reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The emotional reunion between De Gea and the Manchester United faithful is set for August 9th, as Fiorentina and the Red Devils face off in a pre-season friendly ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. This will give De Gea a chance to bid farewell to the fans after his 12-year spell at the club, where he made 545 appearances and kept 190 clean sheets.

Overall, Manchester United will be buoyed by the return of key players like Amad and De Ligt as they look to navigate a crucial period in their season. The potential comeback of these stars, along with the nostalgic return of De Gea to Old Trafford, adds an extra layer of excitement for the fans and promises to make for an intriguing showdown on the pitch.
