The manhunt for the killer of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown is intensifying as investigators follow a trail of clues in hopes of identifying the suspect. The chilling image of the masked suspect, grinning widely, has captured the attention of NYPD detectives and FBI agents as they work tirelessly to solve the case.

One significant clue is the weapon used in the shooting, which appears to be a modern version of a rare World War II spy gun known as the B&T VP9. Investigators are looking into the purchase of this firearm by a Connecticut-based gunmaker as a lead in the manhunt. However, the killer’s gun has not been recovered yet, making the connection less definitive.

Surveillance footage led investigators to the HI New York City Hostel on the Upper West Side, where the suspect was captured on camera. The suspect had checked into the hostel using a fake New Jersey ID on November 30, but evidence suggests he had been in New York City since November 24. A thorough search of the hostel yielded more clues about the suspect’s movements before the shooting.

The killer’s getaway electric bicycle and backpack are still missing, with authorities conducting a search in Central Park where the suspect was last seen. The suspect may have taken the subway from the hostel, carrying a backpack with a battery for the bike. Despite extensive efforts, the backpack has not been located, adding another layer of mystery to the case.

A burner phone and water bottle found near the shooting scene are also being analyzed for fingerprints and potential leads. The suspect was seen using the phone before the murder, and authorities believe he purchased the water bottle from a nearby Starbucks. These pieces of evidence are crucial in piecing together the suspect’s movements and motives leading up to the tragic event.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials are working tirelessly to bring the killer to justice and provide closure for the family and friends of Brian Thompson. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information that may assist in the apprehension of the suspect.
