A manhunt is currently underway in Missouri following the tragic shooting and killing of a deputy on Monday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an alert in Highlandville after a Christian County deputy was fatally shot just before 4 p.m. The suspect vehicle in question is a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck with Missouri license plate 9MGX36. This vehicle was spotted in the area of the shooting and was last seen traveling southbound on US Route 160 from Route HH in Christian County.

The truck is described as having a silver brush guard, a rusted roof, black body trim, tinted rear windows, and a three-ball hitch. Despite this detailed description of the vehicle, no information about the suspect has been released at this time. Authorities are advising the public not to approach the vehicle if spotted and to immediately call 911.

In response to this tragic event, Senator Josh Hawley and Senator Eric Schmitt expressed their condolences and support for the fallen deputy and his family. Senator Hawley stated that he and his wife are praying for the deputy’s family and called for swift justice. Senator Schmitt described the incident as a devastating loss for Christian County and offered his thoughts and prayers to the deputy’s loved ones.

Additionally, Missouri State Rep. Jamie Ray Gragg shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, expressing his sorrow for the deputy’s family and emphasizing the risks that law enforcement officers face in the line of duty. He called on the community to join him in praying for the deputy’s family, friends, and all law enforcement officers involved in the search for the suspect.

The issuance of a Blue Alert in this case highlights the seriousness of the situation, as it is reserved for cases where a suspect has seriously injured or killed a law enforcement officer and may still pose a threat. Authorities are working diligently to apprehend the suspect and bring them to justice while ensuring the safety of the community.

Fox News Digital has reached out to both the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for further information and updates on the ongoing investigation.
