During a recent press conference, Tonda MacCharles of The Toronto Star observed Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney’s facial expressions closely as President Trump made controversial remarks about potentially erasing the border between America and Canada, as well as mocking Carney’s predecessor, Justin Trudeau.
Carney’s eyebrows shot up in surprise at Trump’s comments, before responding, “Well… thank you for your question, I suppose.” He then quipped, “I’m relieved that you couldn’t read my mind.”
The Canadian leader went on to address Trump’s remarks about Canada potentially becoming the 51st state, firmly stating that Canada is not for sale, as he had previously informed the President.
