Mark Cuban Reveals He Was Courted as Potential Running Mate for Kamala Harris in 2024

Former Shark Tank star and Dallas Mavericks minority owner, Mark Cuban, recently disclosed that he was approached as a potential running mate for presidential candidate Kamala Harris during the 2024 election campaign. Cuban shared this revelation on the ā€œBulwarkā€ podcast, stating that he had been in talks with the Harris campaign before Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz was ultimately chosen as her running mate in August 2024.

During the podcast, host Tim Miller mentioned hearing rumors about Cuban’s negotiations with Harris and jokingly asked if Cuban declined to submit “VP vetting papers” due to the lengthy list of potential candidates. Cuban humorously responded by saying, ā€œI’m not very good as the Number Two person,ā€ citing his direct approach and lack of political finesse.

Reflecting on the possibility of being Harris’ running mate, Cuban admitted that the campaign would have taken a completely different direction with him on board. He emphasized his differences in personality and background compared to Waltz, highlighting his straightforward nature and lack of political experience. Cuban quipped, ā€œIt would have been different but it would have been awful! She would have fired me within six days.ā€

While Cuban is known for his independent political stance, he has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and publicly endorsed Harris during the 2024 election campaign. He campaigned alongside her, emphasizing the importance of having a positive and inspirational leader in the White House.

This isn’t the first time Cuban has flirted with the idea of running for office. In 2019, he expressed interest in running as an independent candidate in the 2020 election but ultimately decided against it after polling indicated limited support. Cuban halted his exploration of a presidential bid and continued his business ventures.

Recently, Cuban announced his departure from Shark Tank after 15 seasons. Reflecting on his time on the show, Cuban expressed gratitude for the opportunities to invest in entrepreneurs and inspire others. He thanked everyone who believed in him and contributed to the show’s success.

the perspective of a healthcare worker about the importance of mental health care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a healthcare worker, I have witnessed firsthand the toll that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken on both physical and mental health. While much attention has been focused on treating the physical symptoms of the virus, the mental health implications of the pandemic cannot be ignored. It is more important than ever to prioritize mental health care during these challenging times.

The pandemic has brought about a wave of uncertainty, fear, and stress for many individuals. The constant news updates about rising case numbers, lockdown measures, and economic instability have contributed to heightened anxiety levels across the population. For those who have lost loved ones to the virus or have been directly impacted by it, the grief and trauma can be overwhelming. Social isolation and loneliness due to physical distancing measures have also taken a toll on mental well-being.

In my work, I have seen a significant increase in patients presenting with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Many individuals are struggling to cope with the changes brought about by the pandemic and are feeling overwhelmed by the constant barrage of negative news. It is crucial for healthcare providers to recognize the signs of mental health issues in their patients and provide them with the necessary support and resources.

One of the challenges of providing mental health care during the pandemic is the limited access to in-person services. Many individuals are hesitant to seek help due to fears of contracting the virus or are unable to access traditional therapy due to lockdown measures. Telehealth services have become increasingly important in providing mental health care to those in need. By offering virtual therapy sessions, patients can receive the support they need from the safety of their own homes.

It is also important for healthcare workers to take care of their own mental health during this time. The constant stress of working on the frontlines, the fear of contracting the virus, and the emotional toll of caring for sick patients can be overwhelming. It is essential for healthcare providers to prioritize self-care, seek support from colleagues, and access mental health resources when needed.

As we continue to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial that we prioritize mental health care for both patients and healthcare workers. By providing support, resources, and access to mental health services, we can help individuals cope with the emotional impact of the pandemic and emerge stronger on the other side. Remember, it is okay to not be okay, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
