Mark Sanchez has been charged with three misdemeanors linked to a fierce incident involving a truck driver in Indiana that resulted in Sanchez sustaining multiple stab wounds, based on court filings.
Authorities have charged Sanchez with battery causing injury, public intoxication, and unlawfully entering a motor vehicle following the violent events early Saturday in downtown Indianapolis.
As per court documents accessed by TMZ, Sanchez confronted the driver who was unloading fryer oil at a hotel loading dock.
Surveillance footage reportedly captures Sanchez approaching the driver’s side door and having a conversation with the driver for several minutes. Tensions escalated as the driver promptly headed to hotel security, closely followed by Sanchez.
The video later shows the two men circling the truck, arguing before the situation turns violent. Sanchez allegedly shoved the victim against a wall and then to the ground, afterward fleeing the scene.
The truck driver informed the police that the altercation began when Sanchez indicated that he was not permitted to stand in the loading area as per the hotel’s instruction. The driver mentioned that during their exchange, he detected alcohol on Sanchez, who was allegedly slurring his speech.
The driver claimed that Sanchez attempted to enter the truck twice, prompting him to use pepper spray out of fear. Sanchez is reported to have continued advancing, resulting in the driver pulling out a knife and stabbing Sanchez multiple times.
Following the incident, Sanchez was quickly taken to a hospital with stab wounds to his upper body. Reports indicate he is still receiving medical care.
Additionally, prosecutors have issued a no-contact order, preventing Sanchez from approaching the victim during the duration of the case. The order includes a ban on him possessing firearms, deadly weapons, or ammunition.
