10:57 AM PT — Fox Sports has issued a statement regarding Mark Sanchez‘s condition, confirming he has sustained injuries but is currently stable at the hospital.
Fox Sports added, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the medical team for their outstanding care. Our thoughts are with Mark, and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this time.”
Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was attacked last night in Indianapolis and is now in critical condition in the hospital, TMZ Sports reports.
Emergency services were notified around 12:30 AM Saturday to respond to an incident involving two injured individuals, one of whom was Sanchez.
Sanchez was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The circumstances leading up to this violent episode remain unclear.
The 38-year-old Sanchez was in Indianapolis for his role as a broadcaster with FOX Sports. He was scheduled to commentate on the Colts vs. Raiders game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released a statement early Saturday … stating the incident involved two adult males — one with lacerations and another with stab wounds.
The police confirmed that both individuals have been identified and that this is believed to be a targeted incident, not a random act of violence.
Prior to his broadcasting career, Sanchez was a standout at USC from 2005-2008, leading one of college football’s elite teams. He was selected by the NY Jets as the 5th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
Mark enjoyed a decade-long career in the NFL.
Throughout his career, Sanchez was known for being a high-profile figure off the field as well, linked romantically with several well-known actresses and models, such as Eva Longoria, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Kate Upton.
Mark wed his wife Perry in 2023, and they are parents to three children.
