Katherine Short Remembered for Her Battle with Mental Illness
The late Katherine Short, daughter of actor Martin Short, was known for her struggles with mental illness. Rande Levine, founder of Karma Rescue, a dog charity where Katherine previously served on the board, reflected on her battles, especially during her time in rehab.
Levine shared, “I knew she was battling with this. She would talk about it. But you would never know based on how she presented herself, and how funny she was. She always was smiling, always a pleasure to be around.”
Katherine was open about her issues, even writing about her service dog, Joni, on her now-deleted website. She shared, “Joni is my incredible service dog, who has been assisting me with my own struggles with mental illness for the past 5 years.”
Katherine’s positive and calm demeanor left a lasting impact on those around her. Levine added, “Every experience or connection I had with Katherine was always positive. She was so soft-spoken. She was calm, she laughed a lot.”
Despite her struggles, Katherine’s resilience and positivity shone through. She embraced her mental health journey and was open about her challenges. Her legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew her.
