A grieving 63-year-old mother has spoken out, revealing that her daughter Katherine might have attempted to contact her before taking her own life. Sanz, the mother, believes that if they had been given the chance to form a mother-daughter bond, Katherine might still be alive.
“I feel that she wanted to know me,” Sanz expressed, referencing a mysterious Christmas card she received in 2025, which was signed with a question mark. “She’d be alive today if I were in her life. I might have been able to maybe help her.”
Sanz’s upbringing was in the Massachusetts foster care system. At 17, after becoming emancipated, she moved to New York City to work as a housekeeper in Englewood, New Jersey, for the well-known actress Renee Taylor.
During her pregnancy, Sanz stated that Taylor “put a lot of pressure on me to give the baby up” or risk losing her job. However, Taylor, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter, refuted these claims, asserting that Sanz participated in the adoption process willingly.
“She [Sanz] asked me to adopt the baby,” explained the 93-year-old Taylor, who is known for her roles in The Producers and the sitcom The Nanny. “And I said no, I couldn’t, and I said I would find a good home for the baby.”
